Day 27

Ephesians 1:3–4 (NET)

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ. For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.
God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. “Every” - not some, not a few, not the bare minimum - every! So, how many spiritual blessings do we have in Christ? All of them! Every single one. Not only that, our blessings aren’t limited by our personal goodness, our abilities, or anything to do with us. We have every spiritual blessing because of Jesus! This is abundance.

What kind of blessings are these? Verse 14 tells us one - that because of Christ’s work and God’s love, we are holy and unblemished in the sight of God. Other places in scripture tell us that we have an inheritance, eternal life, mercy, truth, help, protection, provision, guidance, peace, and God’s outrageous love, to name a few.

Not only do we have an abundance of blessings, we have been chosen. Before he created the world, he chose humanity. He knew that we would not choose him, so he chose us. He chose to stay with us and to not abandon or destroy us. He chose to rescue us, to free us from slavery to sin, to offer us a place in his kingdom and to gift us eternal life. Before He created the world, He chose. He chose humanity. He chose us. He chose you.
Prayer Focus for today:
Paul writes that God ought to be blessed because of all of these awesome things he has done for us and who he is. Today, how do you respond to God in light of His love for you, the blessings you have, and your position as chosen?
Write a blessing toward God that starts with “Blessed are you God, for you...”
Express to Him what you love about Him, why you think He is great and/or what you appreciate about Him.
