Wednesday Nights
6:30pm ~ Middle + High Schoolers + Their Families!
Here at The Lakes we do things a bit differently when it comes to Wednesday Night Youth Ministry; we invite the whole family– parents and siblings! Why?
We want our youth to grow into strong adult believers. Statistics show that youth have a better chance of taking their faith into adulthood if they are around adults who demonstrate a living, active faith. So, more adult believers in a youth’s life = a better chance of a solid faith.
Also, here at The Lakes we believe in team! Parents become part of the team and share in the ministry in various ways! Maybe it is cleaning up the kitchen after supper or maybe it is eating with a young person and talking about their day or maybe it is leading a game. It all adds up to a team environment!
Let’s be honest, parents – we need each other! Parenting in the tween/ teen years can be tough! Sometimes it is nice just to know that there are other parents out there doing their best to raise Godly kids and have a time to be together!
Finally, families don’t operate in seperate age categories so neither does our Youth Night. Most youth have siblings, parents and grand parents. We want our youth to be well equipped to navigate the relationships that are part of life, so we start by inviting the whole family! We all participate in the evening’s activities together – eating, praying, learning and playing!
Note: While parents and siblings are invited, they are not required! We want youth to come regardless of whether their families can as well.
Here is how the night works:
5:30-6:30pm – Open gathering time! Come and hang out, play pingpong, volleyball, gaga ball, connect four, etc!
6:30-8:00pm – Formal Youth Night time – We have worship, prayer, teaching, small groups and a game!
8:00pm-? – Hang-out and clean-up time – Youth are welcome to hang out for a while or head home. It is up to family preference.

Sunday Mornings
Who: Middle and High School youth
When: We dismiss the kids and youth about half-way through our 10am worship service to their own groups.
Why: Our philosophy is that kids and youth are part of the body of Christ so we want them to know and be known by the other members of the body and worship together with them! So we invite youth to be a part of the service. Before the sermon, we dismiss them to learn with their peers at their level.
What: This year the group is focused on Bible literacy and the development of the habits of discipleship.
