Day 13

Ephesians 1:20–23 (NET)

This power he exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and he gave him to the church as head over all things. Now the church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
In the verses before these, Paul prays that we would be able to see and understand God’s immense power and greatness that He demonstrated toward us. Here in this passage, He explains that God’s power is on display through Jesus’ resurrection, His ascension to heaven and His current reign.

The passage said that God gave Jesus to the church - how cool is that? Jesus is for the church and the church is His body. The church is intimately connected to God. It is His, He was given for it and it is His fulness because He fills it with Himself.

Abundance, while not named here, pervades this passage. God is more than enough. He is abundant; in power, in authority and in presence. He is so abundant that He “fills all in all!”

God is abundant, more than enough, not lacking in anything good. And He takes that abundance and directs it toward us! He rules in our favor and for our good. He is superior to everything in power and authority. And He draws near to us and shares His presence with us!
Prayer Focus for today:
As you think about God’s abundance in power, authority and presence, take some time to name things that you see, in your life, in your family or in the world, that you would like to come under God’s authority or be put right with His power or be touched with His presence.
