Day 17
2 Peter 1:1–2 (NET)
From Simeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, have been granted a faith just as precious as ours. May grace and peace be lavished on you as you grow in the rich knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! (NIV Translation: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.)
Imagine being alone in the wilderness, surrounded by food, but no knowledge if what lays in front of you is poisonous or not. Without knowledge, abundance doesn’t feel like abundance at all. It feels dangerous. However, once you learn what is nourishing and what is harmful, something shifts. The fear fades. You can eat freely. What was always there now becomes life-giving.
I think our faith can feel like that sometimes. God is a God of abundance. He’s generous, kind, and limitless. But if we don’t really know God… if we don’t fully trust him… we can be hesitant to receive what He offers. We hold ourselves back, unsure if it’s safe or meant for us.
In 2 Peter, we’re told that grace and peace are given to us in abundance through knowing God. Not through doing more or getting everything right, but through relationship with Him.
As we grow in knowing Him, we start to recognize what actually nourishes us and what is holding us back. Fear loosens its grip. Trust grows. What once felt uncertain becomes life-giving.
God’s grace and peace have always been there. Getting to know Him helps us see there’s no limit to what God will provide and that we can receive without fear.

Prayer Focus for today:
In your own words, ask God to help you know Him more deeply, so you can trust and receive the abundance He’s already offering.
