Day 1
Ephesians 2:4–7 (NET)
But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you are saved!—and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4–7 is one of those passages that if you really think about it, it kind of takes your breath away. Paul starts by reminding us who God is: “rich in mercy.” Not cautious with mercy or running low on it, but rather rich and overflowing. God’s heart towards us as His children has never been scarcity—it has always been abundance.
Think about that for a moment. When we were at our weakest, most broken, most undeserving, God didn’t hold back. Instead, He moved toward us with great love and compassion. The kind of love that reaches into dead places and brings them back to life again.
God didn’t just rescue us from sin; He gave us new life. He didn’t just forgive us; He restored us. And then—almost unbelievably—He raised us up and seated us with Christ. That’s a position of honor, belonging, and security. We’re not scraping by in God’s kingdom. We are welcomed
fully in.
And why does God do all this? Verse 7 tells us: so that He might show us “the surpassing wealth of his grace.” God wants His grace to be seen, experienced, and enjoyed—now and forever. His grace isn’t fragile. It’s not something you can use up by asking too much or coming too often. There is always more than enough.
If today feels heavy, if you’re tempted to believe you’re running on empty, let this truth settle in: in Jesus, we already have all that we need, in abundance! Mercy is available. Love is active. Grace is overflowing. You don’t have to strive to earn it or fear that it will disappear.
So today, rest in the generosity of God. Let His abundance shape how you see yourself, your circumstances, and your future. You are deeply loved—and there is more than enough grace for this moment.
